BioGreen winter protection
Which plant needs which temperature?
Choose your plants and location. You will receive the appropriate wintering temperature, a care plan with tips, customer reviews from the BioGreen Shop, the necessary equipment and a watch list as a PDF to save.
Please always double check: second check with the thermometer. All temperature information is a guideline that was compiled by an AI. Measure the actual temperature of your plant with a min/max thermometer - ideally with a second device somewhere else in the area. BioGreen assumes no liability for plant or frost damage.
Step 1 · Planting
What should be overwintered?
Multiple selection possible. The color of the group accompanies your plant throughout the entire evaluation. Nothing found? Look for a related name - the care groups cover most species.
No hit. Try a related name or botanical name.
No plant chosen yet.
Step 2 · Location
Where and how do you winter?
So that we can assess whether you have enough space - and what heating output would be mathematically necessary.
In this way, we adapt the climate examples to your region - the night temperatures differ significantly between Ticino, the Vienna Basin and the low mountain ranges.
Regional examples for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Your selected country is highlighted.
The sketches show shape and size on the same scale - so you can see directly how the models relate to each other.
Step 3 · Evaluation
Your result
Automatically calculated guideline value from your selection – no individual expert advice.
Double check with the thermometer – please always
Never rely on this calculation alone or on a single display device. Double-check the temperature in your neighborhood:
- A Min/max thermometer at the level of the root ball, a second at the level of the crown. There is often a 4-6°C difference between the floor and the top of the tent.
- Check that Your heating thermostat against a separate thermometer. An incorrectly placed sensor - for example directly in the warm air flow - switches off too early.
- Read this after every frosty night Minimum values from, not just the current temperature.
- Check after a power outage, storm or snow load additionally and not just on the next tour.
Step 4 · Temperature
Temperature requirements and protection requirements
The green bar is the recommended corridor. The colored zones at the top show the temperature at which a tent is sufficient and when it needs to be heated; On the right is the requirement per plant. All values are AI guideline values – please check on the thermometer.
Step 5 · Care & Tips
Care plan and tips for each plant
Tips and tricks from specialist gardening sources, summarized using AI. Without guarantee of completeness or accuracy.
Step 6 · Customer testimonials

The quotes come from publicly visible reviews on the linked product pages and are shortened accordingly. They refer to the respective products, not to the overwintering of your specific plants, and do not represent a guarantee of overwintering success.

1. Reference to AI creation (EU AI Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)
This configurator is an AI-powered information tool. All evaluations, temperature information, care instructions, calculations and product suggestions are generated automatically. There is no examination by a horticultural specialist. You are interacting with an AI system, not a human.
2. No guarantee for accuracy or completeness
BioGreen endeavors to provide carefully researched content, but assumes no liability for the accuracy, completeness or topicality of the information provided. AI systems can misinterpret values, reproduce outdated information or incorrectly link facts. Specified temperature ranges, wattages and times are non-binding guidelines.
3. Disclaimer for plant and frost damage
BioGreen assumes no liability for plant damage, frost damage, drought damage, rot, pest infestation, the death of plants or any resulting financial or consequential lossthat arise in connection with the use of this configurator, its recommendations or the generated PDF. The overwintering result depends on numerous factors that BioGreen neither knows nor can influence - including plant health, variety, age, root condition, substrate, pot size, watering behavior, location, wind load, air humidity, construction and tightness of the quarters, power supply, equipment maintenance and actual weather conditions. Liability for slight negligence is excluded. Liability for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health as well as under the Product Liability Act remains unaffected.
4. Self-responsible control – thermometer requirement
Implementation of the recommendations is at your own risk. BioGreen expressly recommends a second, independent temperature check with a thermometer – ideally a double check with two separate measuring devices in different parts of the area as well as a regular visual check of your plants. Do not rely on this evaluation alone, not on a single thermostat or on a single display.
5. Device and operational safety
The manufacturer's respective operating and safety instructions apply exclusively to heaters, thermostats, heating cables, lights and gas or paraffin devices. Outdoor electrical devices should only be operated on suitable, residual current protected circuits. Sufficient ventilation must be ensured for combustion heaters. The information in this configurator does not replace manufacturer instructions.
6. Calculated values and product information
The heating output is a rough estimate based on simplified assumptions (envelope area, assumed U-value, temperature difference) without taking wind, solar radiation, ground heat, leaks and snow load into account. Actual needs may vary significantly. Product names, availabilities and prices are non-binding and correspond to the status of the survey; Only the information in the shop at biogreen.world is relevant.
The climate levels and regional examples given for Germany, Austria and Switzerland are rough guide values. Microclimate, altitude, wind exposure and city heat can significantly shift the actual nighttime temperatures.
7. Customer Reviews
Reproduced customer testimonials are shortened extracts from published reviews and exclusively reflect the subjective opinion of the respective author. They do not represent an agreement on quality, a guarantee or an assurance of wintering success.
8. No contract offer
This configurator and the generated PDF do not represent a legally binding offer or a consulting service in the sense of a consulting contract. A contract is only concluded through the ordering process in the shop in accordance with BioGreen's general terms and conditions.
